And, one more close up…  here is his birthday cake.  The top layer was carrot with cream cheese icing, and the bottom was chocolate with chocolate icing.  We had an even mix of Americans and Germans at the party, so I made sure to warn our German friends that the cake and icing would be very sugary sweet.  Several of them said they were hoping for an American style cake!  Phew!

Close up of the little wooden birthday “caravan” that I found here.  The number “1” can be replaced with numbers up to six.

Here is a sneak peek into the Big Top of O’s party.  Friends of ours took photos during the actual event, so we will post those when we have them.

Oliver is ready for more play time on his birthday, while mom bakes his cake for the big party…apparently dad had one too many spoonfuls of cake batter.

…and here it is!  Little O is crawling just in time for his dad’s arrival and his birthday.  He did his first real crawl yesterday morning at our office coffee break, but he waited until his dad got home to make it really happen.  He’s much faster in this video than he was this morning.  Go Oliver go!!

Thad arrived home late last night, but he made it just in time to see O’s first standing in the crib.

Here’s one from earlier this week while Thad was still in Florence (he’s home now!).

Did my normal checking on Oliver this evening.  My jaw dropped.  He does NOT like sleeping on his tummy, and this is definitely not how I put him in bed earlier.

So this was the best I could get today…he seemed to have a bit of stage fright once I turned the camera on.  You’ll notice one time where he starts to scoot his legs forward.  He’s been practicing this all day and has managed to get the arm motion to pull himself too.  Also watch for the raising up really “high” on his knees and then flopping down.  Silly boy.
